Sudurpaschhim Province Bajhang Surma Rural Municipality
Bajhang District is a mountainous district located in the Seti zone of Sudurpashchim Province. To the east, it borders Bajura and Humla Districts, to the west, it borders Baitadi and Darchula Districts, to the north, it borders Humla District and the autonomous region of Tibet in China, and to the south, it borders Baitadi and Doti Districts. The total area of the district is 3,422 square kilometers. The geography of the district spans from 29 degrees 29 minutes north latitude to 30 degrees 9 minutes north latitude and from 80 degrees 46 minutes east longitude to 81 degrees 34 minutes east longitude. The elevation of the district ranges from 915 meters at Deura to 7,031 meters at the peak of Mount Saipal above sea level.
From a political and administrative division perspective, two electoral constituencies have been defined in the district. The district headquarters is located in Chainpur, which is surrounded by Seti to the east and south and Bauligad to the west. This district, which resembles an island, previously had 47 village development committees, and after federalism, 12 local units have been formed, consisting of 10 rural municipalities and 2 municipalities.

The total area of Surma Rural Municipality is 270.8 square kilometers, and according to the 2078 population, the population is 9,022. Surma Rural Municipality is formed by the merging of two wards. This municipality previously comprised the Surma and Daulichaur Village Development Committees.
